NYCHA permitted for 165K sf mixed-use building in Fordham

UPDATED with developer: The New York City Housing Authority, on December 29, was given a permit for construction of a 182-unit, 165,503-square-foot mixed-use building at 373 East 183rd Street in Fordham, the Bronx. The developer of the project is Settlement Housing Fund.

The plans, pre-filed on July 26, 2019, call for the construction of a 135-foot tall, 14-story mixed-use building. The owner representative on the filing was Matthew Charney of NYCHA.

The project is described in the filings as: propose new 14-story mixed-use building as per plans and obtain new certificate of occupancy.

Per the plans, the ground floor will have retail space, a community room, meeting room, and office. Floors two through six will each have 17 dwelling units per floor, the seventh floor will have 13 dwelling units, while floors eight through 14 will each have 12 dwelling units per floor. Amenities include a children’s playroom, recreation space, and an exercise room.

Danois Architects is listed as the architect.

Demolition plans have not been filed.

An estimated completion date has not been announced.
