City permitted for 122K sf school in Soundview

The New York City School Construction Authority, on April 25, received a permit for construction of a 122,541-square-foot school building at 2058 Lafayette Avenue in Soundview, the Bronx. The development is on a large parcel owned for decades by the city.

Both foundation and plumbing permits were issued.

The plans, pre-filed on April 21, 2020, call for the construction of an 82-foot tall, three-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: new three-story building.

Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have classrooms, an office, a parent community room, a locker room, and a record room. The second floor will have an office, classrooms, exam room, rest area, and a workshop. The third floor will have classrooms, an office, and a conference room.

Urbahn Architects is listed as the architect.
