City finishes a $9.7M roof rehab of prison building on Rikers Island
New York City Department of Correction, on March 18, formally completed a $9.7 million rehabilitation of a prison building’s roof at 11-11 Hazen Street in Rikers Island. The island is legally part of Queens.
The plans, pre-filed on April 17, 2017, call for a rehab of the roof of the 47-foot tall, three-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: removal and replacement of existing roof membrane; removal and replacement of exterior masonry units as per plans filed The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $9,721,897.
Superstructures was the architect named.
The city recently filed plans for $17.7 million roof rehab of a building, known as the Otic Bantam Correctional Center, at 1600 Hazen Street in the facility.
