City finishes $3M project to go from oil to gas in East Harlem school

The New York City School Construction Authority, on November 30, formally completed a $3 million rehabilitation project to convert from oil to gas at a school, known as P.S. 146 Ann M. Short, at 421 East 106th Street in East Harlem.

The plans, pre-filed on January 16, 2013, call for a rehab of roof, all floors, and space outside of the 36-foot tall, three-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: P.S. 146 – M : remove two oil-fired steam boilers, install new two gas-fired steam boilers, two electric unit heaters, boiler/chemical feed unit, induced draft fan, new breeching and chimney liner, vacuum pump, existing duplex air compressor to remain, new pneumatic thermostats, traps, valves and controls, motorized dampers, louvers. No change in use, egress, occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,000,000.

NYC SCA was also listed as the architect.

One rehab project has been filed at the building this year, back in March.
