City finishes $3.5M multi-floor rehab of NYCHA building in Mott Haven
New York City Housing Authority, on November 23, formally completed a $3.5 million rehabilitation of multiple floors of a building at 511 East 146th Street in Mott Haven. The building is part of the Betances Houses, which are owned by NYCHA but managed by Wavecrest Management and MDG Construction.
The plans, pre-filed on October 9, 2018, call for a rehab of the roof and all floors of the 60-foot tall, six-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: application filed for minor alterations to apartments including cabinet and door replacements, lobby finishes, plumbing fixture replacement, exhaust replacements, window replacement, roof replacement and new landscaping. No change in use, egress or occupancy The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,522,000.
The city has owned the property since at least the 1960s, according to the earliest public records.
The last rehab project filed at the property came in January of 2019.
