City files plans for $6.2M rehab, permitted for $9.2M rehab of two Manhattan schools
The New York City School Construction Authority, on April 19, filed a permit application for a $6.2 million exterior rehabilitation of a school building at 145 Stanton Street in the Lower East Side.
The plans, pre-filed on April 19, 2021, call for work on the basement, roof, and all floors of the 42-foot-tall, four-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: filing herewith for the repairs to the exterior masonry, structural concrete spandrel beams and to add weather resistant coatings to all exposed beams.remove and replace all roofs, repair chimney, replace door frame, patch and repair all water damaged interior finishes there will be no change in egress, occupancy or use. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,158,301.

On the same day, the NYC SCA was given a permit for a $9.2 million exterior rehab of a school building at 8 Henry Street in Chinatown.
The plans, pre-filed on April 26, 2019, call for a rehab of the cellar, roof, all floors, and space outside of the 100-foot tall, five-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: PS001M, proposed work is to include removal and reconstruction of exterior masonry brick, replacement of windows, interior and exterior guards, roofing replacement and door replacement. Plumbing work is to replace drains. No change in use, occupancy or egress is proposed under this application. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $9,229,000.
