City files plans for $5.5M rehab to replace boilers in Williamsburg school

New York City School Construction Authority, on January 19, filed a permit application for a $5.5 million project to replace boilers in a school building at 183 South 3rd Street in Williamsburg.

The plans call for work on the cellar, roof, and all floors of the 78-foot tall, five-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: K050-replacement of boilers with new self contained control valve and steam trap assembly. New DDC thermostat and valve assembly. New climate control system. New air intake louver, motorized damper and vacuum pump. No change to use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $5,500,000.

These are the first plans filed at the building since 2017.

The NYC SCA is also listed as the architect.

The middle school is known as the John D. Wells.
