Catholic Homes New York receives TCO for 89-unit affordable rental in Morrisania

Catholic Homes New York, on January 4, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for construction of an 89-unit, 69,453-square-foot residential building at 909 Beck Street in Morrisania, the Bronx.

The plans, pre-filed on January 20, 2017, call for the construction of a 74-foot tall, eight-story residential building. The time from pre-file to TCO was four years.

The project is described in the filings as: new eight-story building with 89 dwelling units.

The ground floor of the building has a kitchen, laundry, six dwelling units, and recreation space, community room, per the plans. Floors two through seven each have 12 dwelling units per floor, while the eighth floor has 11.

OCV Architects designed the building. The firm has been in charge of several affordable and supportive housing projects in the Bronx.

An affordable housing lottery opened for 30 one-bedroom apartments for seniors in the building in March of 2020.

Catholic Homes New York is an initiative led by Catholic Charities and the Archdiocese of New York that develops affordable housing for families and seniors. Catholic Homes New York works in partnership with the Association of New York Catholic Homes (ANYCH) and the New York Institute for Human Development (IHD).

The property was acquired for $3.5 million on December 27, 2017.
