Carthage Advisors, on December 21, formally completed the demolition of the Harlem Baptist Temple Church at 18 West 116th Street in Central Harlem.

The building had been partially demolished back in 2009, and had been damaged and deteriorating following a fire in 1965.

The plans, pre-filed on July 14, 2016, call for the demolition of the building.

The project is described in the filings as: propose full demolition of three-story church.

On May 2, 2016, the developer filed plans for a 125-foot tall, 11-story, 35,122-square-foot mixed-use building with 29 dwelling units.

The church will occupy 5,800-square-feet on the cellar and ground floor of the new building, according to the plans and reports. The ground floor will also have a residential lobby. Floors three through seven will each have four dwelling units per floor, floors eight and nine will each have two dwelling units per floor, while the 10th floor will have one dwelling unit. The 11th floor and roof will have recreation space.

GF55 Partners is designing the building.

The property was acquired for $6.7 million on June 11, 2018.
