The Animal Medical Center of New York, on March 8, filed a permit application for a $35.1 million rehabilitation of several floors of a 62,087-square-foot hospital building at 510 East 62nd Street in Lenox Hill.
The plans are part of a larger $70 million plan which aims to renovate 26,000-square-feet of clinical and client space and add more than 11,000-square-feet.
The plans call for work on floors one through nine of the 142-foot tall, nine-story, 62,087-square-foot building.
The project is described in the filings as: filed herewith alteration type I for change of use on the seventh floor and updated certificate of occupancy to reflect floors one through nine and roof. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $35,102,827.

According to a report, through the larger plan the emergency room and intensive care unit will nearly triple in size, along with the addition of six new clinical rooms.
The project will be funded through The Gift of Love campaign, which has raised $51 million of the $70 million goal, according to the hospital’s website.
