78-unit resi building planned on 19th century Kreischer mansion property

Isaac Yomtovian is moving forward with plans to construct a residential building with 78 dwelling units at the Victorian-style Kreischer mansion property on Staten Island. The filing does not name an address, but states the development will be located near the rear lot lines behind the existing Victorian Kreischer mansion, which is located at 4500 Arthur Kill Road.

The developer purchased the historic property in the late 1990s.

The plans were disclosed in a filing requesting a special permit pursuant to ZR 74-711 to modify use and bulk regulations on a zoning lot containing a landmark designation, as well as three South Richmond district authorizations and one South Richmond district certification to facilitate the development.

Curbed reported there were legends of it being haunted, based on Edward Kreischer taking his own life on the property in the 1890s.
