NYC Health + Hospitals files plans to demolish large building, ahead of 187K sf development

New York City Health + Hospitals, on October 6, filed a permit application for the demolition of a building at 22 West 137th Street in Central Harlem.

The plans call for the demolition of a 125-foot tall building. The filing is inconsistent regarding the number of stories the existing building has, referring to it as both a nine-story building and a 10-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of ten-story structure using mechanical means as per plans filed herewith.

The building is one of six currently occupying the tax lot, which have a combined floor area of over 1 million square feet.

On April 16, NYC H+H filed plans for a 10-story lab spanning 187,840-square-feet at the property. According to reports, the building be based by the Harlem Hospital Center.

However, the plans were disapproved on September 28.
