Vornado files plans for construction of a 573-unit high rise in Rego Park

Vornado Realty Trust, on October 19, filed a permit application for construction of a 573-unit, 540,790-square-foot mixed-use building at 61-10 Junction Boulevard in Rego Park, Queens. Barry Langer, executive VP of development at Vornado, filed the plans.

The new building will be directly across the street from The Alexander at Rego Center, a 24-story, 314-unit tower Vornado completed in 2015, two years after filing plans.

The new project has an estimated job cost of $288 million.

The plans call for the construction of the fourth most residential (R-2) dwelling units in the entire city, and second most in Queens, so far this year.

The plans call for the construction of a 330-foot-tall, 32-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number Q00608600. The development site spans four tax lots.

The project is described in the filing as: construction of new 32-story residential/mixed-use high rise building.

According to the plans, the ground floor will have a supermarket, retail space, community space, a residential lobby, and off-street parking for 82 cars. the second floor will have additional parking for 63 cars. The third floor will have several roof terraces and parking for 103 cars. The fourth floor will have 22 dwelling units, a game room, kid’s room, club room, library, office, fitness room, and a swimming pool. The fifth floor will have 24 dwelling units and a terrace, floors six through 20 will each have 25 dwelling units per floor, floors 21 through 28 will each have 13 dwelling units per floor, and floors 29 through 32 will each have 12 dwelling units per floor. The cellar and sub-cellar will combine to have an additional 438 parking spaces.
