Urban Standard Development submits $24.6M condo plan with seven units in Chelsea
On October 15, a condominium plan was submitted by Urban Standard Development for seven residential units at 142 West 19th Street in Chelsea.
The condo plan, CD210290, has a sellout price of $24,650,000 listed with the New York State Attorney General. Seth Weissman, founder and president of Urban Standard Development, is listed as the principal of sponsor.
The developer purchased the site for $8.5 million in 2015, according to city records.
The following year, in March of 2016, Weissman filed new building plans with the city’s Department of Buildings calling for the construction of a 67-foot tall, seven-story, 12,115-square-foot residential building with seven dwelling units at the property.
City Realty released renderings of the development last summer.

In 2016 it was reported that the developer was seeking a variance from the Board of Standards and Appeals to build three extra stories, which would ultimately lead to the construction of a 10-story building with nine units. However, the DOB plans do not reflect that.
The variance was required since the lot measures only 26-feet wide. According to the city’s Sliver Law, which applies to certain high-density zoning districts, developers cannot construct new buildings taller than their neighbors from such narrow sites.
