Tom Grainger gets permit to demolish Tribeca building to make way for 14-story apartment building
Tom Grainger, on September 24, was given a permit for the demolition of a building at 21 Park Place in Tribeca.
The plans, pre-filed on December 28, 2018, call for the demolition of a five-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of a five-story structure.
The property was acquired for $9 million on July 18, 2018.
On June 22, 2019, Grainger filed plans for a 151-foot tall, 14-story, 19,079-square-foot hotel with 11 rooms on the property.
Those plans called for a hotel with a lobby and eating and drinking establishment on the ground floor. Floors two, seven through nine, 11, and 12 would each have one room, while the 10th floor would have two rooms. The other rooms would be duplexes, the first occupying floors three and four, the second occupying floors five and six, and the third occupying floors 13 and 14. The lower level of the third duplex, occupying the 13th floor, would have a private terrace.
M G New York Architects was the architect listed for the new building.
However, the new building plans were disapproved last October. Tom Grainger told PincusCo that the plan is to now file plans for the construction of a 14-story apartment building with condos. The development will span roughly 23,500-square-feet.
