Tavros files plans for two buildings with a combined 475 units in Gowanus

Tavros, on November 16, filed two permit applications for the construction of a 261-unit, 227,760-square-foot mixed-use building at 251 Douglass Street and a 214-unit, 167,036-square-foot mixed-use building at 577 Union Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Dov Barnett, a founding partner of Tavros, filed the plans.

The plans join a quickly-growing list of new buildings planed in the neighborhood of Gowanus which. seems to be on the cusp of a major rezoning. Orange Management, PMG, Vorea, and others have all filed plans in recent months.

The first plans call for the construction of a 145-foot-tall, 13-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00621061. The development site spans multiple tax lots.

The project is described in the filing as: application filed in order to erect 13-story mixed-use new building.

Per the plans, the ground floor will have retail, a library, and exercise rooms. Floors two through six will each have 27 dwelling units per floor, the seventh floor will have 25 dwelling units, the eighth floor will have 18 dwelling units, floors nine and 10 will each have 19 dwelling units, and floors 11 through 13 will each have 15 dwelling units per floor. The roof will have a terrace and library.

The architect listed is Fogarty Finger LLC.

The property was acquired with three other properties for $22.5 million on April 14, 2020.

The project is described in the filing as: application filed in order to erect nine-story mixed-use new building.

Per the plans, the ground floor will have two retail spaces and parking. The second floor will have amenity spaces and 24 dwelling units. Floors three through five will each have 32 dwelling units per floor, the sixth floor will have 30 dwelling units, the seventh floor will have 28 dwelling units, the eighth floor will have 22 dwelling units, and the ninth floor will have 16 dwelling units and amenity space. The roof will have a swimming pool.
