Sunrise Senior Living plans a 95-bed, long-term care facility in New Dorp

Sunrise Senior Living plans to construct a 95-bed, long term care facility 450-470 New Dorp Lane in Staten Island. The proposed care facility would be located on the 100,000-square-foot parking lot which is currently vacant.

The plans were disclosed on April 28, when the developer filed a Zoning Certification application requesting Chair Certification for cross access connections in accordance with NYC Planning zoning resolutions. Cross access connections, which are vehicular passageways between parking lots adjacent to one another on the same or separate zoning lots, must be certified by the Chairperson of the City Planning Commission to the Department of Buildings before any excavation, foundation, or building permit can be issued.

Sunrise Senior Living bought the parcel for $3 million from Kimco Realty, a real estate investment trust that specializes in open-air shopping centers, on December 3, 2019.
