Shimon Kleinman filed two sets of alteration plans for neighboring buildings, 585 and 589 Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn, that will increase the number of residential units in the buildings from four to 20.
In the first building, Shimon Kleinman, on October 3, filed plans for a $499,800 alteration of 589 Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The plan call for the increase in size of the building from a 30-foot tall, three-story building with four dwelling units to a 55-foot tall, four-story building with 10 dwelling units. This was filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B08012151.

In the second building, Shimon Kleinman, on October 3, filed plans for a $484,400 alteration of a building at 585 Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The plan call for the increase in size of the building from a 15-foot tall, one-story building with no dwelling units to a 45-foot tall, four-story building with 10 dwelling units. This was filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B08012111.

The 589 Knickerbocker Avenue parcel has frontage of 25 feet and is 100 feet deep with a total lot size of 2,500 square feet. The zoning is R6 which allows for up to 2.43 times floor area ratio (FAR) for residential. The city-designated market value for the property in 2022 is $1.7 million.
The mixed-use building in Bushwick has 5,500 square feet of built space and 575 square feet of additional air rights for a total buildable of 6,075 square feet according to PincusCo analysis of city data.
