RXR finishes $161.8M project, part of redevelopment of Pier 57

RXR Realty, on May 12, formally completed a $161.8 million project at 1 Pier 57 in Chelsea. The project is part of the developer’s ongoing effort to redevelop the historic pier.

Back in 2013, the developer filed $85.2 million plans to enlarge the building and create retail, restaurant, and office space in the building.

The pier was original built in 1952 and is currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The plans, pre-filed on June 12, 2019, call for work on all floors of the 75-foot tall, five-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: removal and installation of non bearing partitions and related materials as per plans filed herewith. No change in use, egress or occupancy under this application. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $161,781,294.
