Rockrose files demo plans at Fort Greene site with 609-unit tower planned

The Elghanayan family’s Rockrose Development, on June 11, filed a permit application for the demolition of a building at 98 Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

The plans call for the demolition of a four-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of four-story structure, using hand held and mechanical to assist.

In April of 2020, the developer filed plans for construction of a 609-unit, 418,092-square-foot residential building at the site. The plan was their first major project in Brooklyn and a shift from the family’s history of developing towers in Manhattan and Long Island City.

The status of the plans as of last month was “disapproved,” and subsequent plans have not been filed yet, according to a review of DOB records.

The property was acquired with three other properties for $62 million on April 16, 2020.
