Yitzchok Katz files plans for 137 units in Astoria, 134 units in East Williamsburg
Yitzchok Katz, on February 3, filed two permit applications for construction two separate buildings, which are a 137-unit, 135,927-square-foot mixed-use building at 2-24 26th Avenue in Astoria, Queens, and a 134-unit, 158,072-square-foot mixed-use building at 575 Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
According to a review of city records, the property at 2-24 26th Avenue indicate it is owned by Rosa and Vincenzo Filingeri and records for 575 Grand Street indicate it is owned by the Conte family, owner of Key Food supermarket. It is unclear if Katz signed a lease for the properties, is under contract to buy the parcels or has closed on them but the sales have not yet been recorded. Yimby reported in 2015 that the Contes filed plans to build a 107-unit and retail building at the site.
The first plans call for the construction of a 65-foot-tall, six-story building at 2-24 26th Avenue and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number Q00660436.
The project is described in the filing as: proposed six-story mixed-use building.
In the previous 12 months there have been 38 new building plans filed in Astoria. The 38 plans combined to call for the construction of 2,489 dwelling units in the neighborhood.
