NYC School Construction Authority finishes a $4M rehab, files plans for two more worth $17.5M
The New York City School Construction Authority, on July 16, completed a $4.3 million rehab of a building at 2780 Reservoir Avenue in Kingsbridge. That same day, the NYC SCA filed two permit applications for a $10 million rehab of a building at 50 Navy Street in Brooklyn and a $7.5 million rehab of a building at 86-35 235th Court in Queens Village.
The 2780 Reservoir Avenue plans, pre-filed on March 28, 2006, call for a rehab of the basement, roof, and all three floors of the 45-foot tall, 3-story, school building, formerly known as Walton High School.
The project is described in the filings as: Walton HS room conversions of classrooms to offices, offices to classrooms, classrooms and offices to service rooms, auditorium balcony to town hall meeting space, protection room to office and janitors closet to staff toilet, install “mh fin tube” radiation and exhaust fans, new handling units, remove toilet room and sink in basement. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $4,298,500.
Walton High School closed in 2008. It was reported to have a high level of violent incidents and a low graduation rates. The building now houses a host of mini-schools.

The first of the new plans calls for a rehab of the basement of the 41-foot tall, 3-story, building at 50 Navy Street in Brooklyn.
The project is described in the filings as: removal of 2 existing oil fired boilers with all associated parts, piping, breeching and climate controls and replace with 2 new gas fired boilers with all new breeching, piping, and climate controls and appurtenances. As per plans filed herewith, no change in use, egress, or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $10,000,000.

The second of the new plans calls for a rehab of the basement and roof of 22-foot tall, 1-story, building at 86-35 235th Court in Queens Village.
The project is described in the filings as: q018-replace boilers and burners. New self-contained control valve assembly, vacuum pumps, and steam trap assembly. New ddc thermostat and gas leak annunciator. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $7,500,000.
