NYC files plans for $10M rehab of Bronx school

NYC School Construction Authority, on July 23, filed a permit application for a $10 million rehab of a school building at 3740 Baychester Avenue in the Edenwald neighborhood of the Bronx.

The plans call for a rehab of the cellar, roof, and floors one through three of the 30-foot-tall, four-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: remove two existing oil fired boilers and climate controls with breeching and all associated mechanical parts, boiler feeds, blowdown piping, chemical feeds and replace with two new gas fired boilers with all associated climate controls breeching and chemical feeds, blowdown piping, vacuum pumps and electric unit heaters, motorized dampers as per plans filed. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $10,000,000.

The architecture will be done in house by the city’s School Construction Authority, according to the filing.

The SCA continues to rehab school buildings throughout the city. On July 20, they filed a permit application for a $9 million rehab of several floors of a school building at 180 Chauncey Street in Brooklyn. The week before, they filed plans for a $10 million rehab of a school building at 50 Navy Street in Brooklyn and a $7.5 million rehab of a school at 86-35 235th Court in Queens Village,
