$3.7M project permitted for fire suppression at Coney Island Hospital building
NYC Health + Hospitals, on July 28, was given a permit for a $3.7 million fire-suppression project at an under-construction building in the Coney Island Hospital complex at 2619 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn.
The plans, pre-filed on January 11, 2019, call for work on all floors of the 206-foot tall, 10-story, hospital building.
The new project is described in the filings as: herewith filing installation of permanent sprinkler-standpipe system in conjunction with new 10-story hospital building for Coney Island Hospital. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,738,000.
The under construction hospital building, pre-filed on February 16, 2018, will yield roughly 903,220-square-feet when completed.
Reports indicated the building would be used for resilient critical services, which would include an emergency department on the second floor, along with a pharmacy and laboratory.
Funding for the development came by way of a $1.6 billion Federal Emergency Management Agency grant that New York City’s public hospitals received following Hurricane Sandy.
