NYC finishes $6.6M multi-floor rehab of Bronx school

NYC School Construction Authority, on August 3, formally completed a $6.6 million rehabilitation of several floors of a school building at 1980 Lafayette Avenue in Castle Hill in the Bronx.

The plans, pre-filed on June 14, 2014, call for a rehab of the basement, roof, floors one through three, and outside space of the 50-foot tall, four-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: repave asphalt and concrete walkways. Remove shed. Replace portion of retaining wall and concrete aprons. Repair masonry parapet, concrete repairs, replace roof. Replace limestone panels and doors; railings, porches. Renovate gyms including flooring, window guards, motorized partitions, acoustic panels, finishes, bleachers, locker rooms, showers, beam repairs. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,574,465.

The architect is listed as the School Construction Authority.

The NYC SCA has been actively filing renovations, with more than 130 filed so far this year. For example, it recently filed plans for a $9 million conversion from oil to gas at Gravesend School in Brooklyn.
