City files plans for 184-unit affordable rental in Brownsville
New York City’s Housing Preservation and Development, on August 17, filed a permit application for construction of an 184-unit, 189,907-square-foot mixed-use building at 273 Snediker Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The development site also has an alternate address of 496 Sutter Avenue.
The plans call for the construction of a 92-foot tall, nine-story, mixed-use building.
The project is described in the filings as: construct new nine-story, mixed-use building as per plans filed.
The proposed development will be split between commercial space, residential space, and community facility space.
According to the plans, the cellar of the building will have a multipurpose room, meeting room, office, laundry room, exercise room, classroom, domestic violence program space, and storage space. The ground floor will have commercial space, a play room, laundry and mail rooms, a support services room, and 15 dwelling units. The second floor will have 23 dwelling units, floors two through six will each have 24 dwelling units, the seventh floor will have 19 dwelling units, the eighth floor will have 16 dwelling units, and the ninth floor will have 15 dwelling units.
Mark Ginsberg of Curtis + Ginsberg Architects is listed as the architect on the filing.
At this time, an estimated completion date has yet to be announced.
Demolition plans were filed back in May for the three-story building on the property.
