Nonprofit files for demolition in Lincoln Square to make way for 200-bed women’s shelter

Project Renewal, on August 17, filed a permit application for the demolition of an 8,300-square-foot, single-story building at 537 West 59th St in Lincoln Square. Paul Woody, vice president of real estate at Project Renewal, filed the plans.

The plans, pre-filed on August 17, 2022, call for the demolition of the building.

The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of building using hand held and partial mechanical means to assist as per plans filed herewith.

The property was acquired for $19.3 million on February 17, 2022.

Project Renewal, on July 7, 2021, filed a permit application for construction of a 200-bed, 44,879-square-foot women’s shelter at 537 West 59th Street in Lincoln Square, Manhattan. Paul Woody, vice president of real estate at Project Renewal, filed the plans. The nonprofit obtained a $75 million construction loan from Wells Fargo.
