Nestor Varela fully permitted for construction of 20-unit mixed-use building in LIC
Developer Nestor Varela through the company 39-08 29th Street LLC, on October 5, was given a permit for construction of a 20-unit, 22,140-square-foot residential building at 39-04 29th Street in Long Island City.
The plans, pre-filed on January 8, call for the construction of a 59-foot tall, six-story mixed-use building.
The project is described in the filings as: proposed one new six-story mixed-use building with 20 dwelling units, commercial on ground floor and second floor, and parking at underground.
The building will have 14,953-square-feet of residential space and 7,186-square-feet of commercial space.
The cellar of the building will have laundry facilities and 13 accessory parking spaces, per the plans. The ground floor will be divided into a photo studio, residential lobby, and retail space. The second floor will also have a photo studio, in addition to three dwelling units. Floors three and four will each have six dwelling units, the fifth floor will have two dwelling units, and the sixth floor will have three dwelling units. The roof will provide recreation space.
Gerald J. Caliendo Architects is listed as the architect for the project.
Demolition plans were filed in January of 2019 and marked as completed in October, 2019.
The property was acquired for $1.5 million on June 17, 2016.
Around the time of filing it was reported that an estimated completion date had not been announced.
