MTA finishes $4M lobby rehab in Grand Central
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, on August 12, formally completed a $4 million rehabilitation of the ground floor of the building at 250 Park Avenue in Grand Central.
The plans, pre-filed on March 21, 2019, call for a rehab of the lobby of the 200-foot tall, 20-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: minor demolition. Installation of new partitions, doors, suspended ceilings, flooring and finishes as per plans (lobby renovation.) No change to use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $4,037,120.
The rehab consisted of adding a secondary entrance which expanded the new lobby to Vanderbilt Avenue, redesigning the Park Avenue entrance, and renovating the elevator interiors. Additionally, a dynamic customizable video ceiling was added which will display a rotating gallery of curated works by emerging and established local artists.
Only one A2 plan has been filed at the building this year.
