Matrix finishes $7.4M solar panel installation at Amazon warehouse
Matrix Development Group, on December 21, formally completed a $7.4 million project to install solar panels to the roof of a storage building at 546 Gulf Avenue in Staten Island. According to a PincusCo analysis from February of 2019, the project at the time was the city’s most-expensive single-building solar project ever.
The plans, pre-filed on February 25, 2019, call for installation of solar panels to the roof of the 53-foot tall building.
The project is described in the filings as: installation of solar array and associated equipment on existing roof. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $7,350,898.
Amazon has leased the entire two-story building at 546 Gulf Avenue, which has a ground-floor footprint of 858,153 square feet. The building received its initial certificate of occupancy in August 2018.
Dewberry was the architect for the project.
