JDS submits 149-unit condo plan for Downtown Brooklyn supertall, to be borough’s highest structure
JDS Development Group submitted a condominium plan for its supertall at 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. The plans indicate 149 residential condo units and 10 commercial condo units. According to reports, when completed, the structure will surpass Extell Development’s Brooklyn Point as the borough’s tallest building.
The condo plan, CD210093, does not list a sellout price with the New York State Attorney General. Michael Stern, founder of the firm, is listed as the principal of the sponsor.
The development has been in the works for years. In June of 2014, Stern filed new building plans with the New York City Department of Buildings calling for the construction of a 1,066-foot tall, 72-story, 556,164-square-foot mixed-use building with 417 dwelling units at the property.
92,694 square feet will be dedicated to commercial space, per the plans. The dwelling units are a mix of condos and rentals.
Per the plans, the building will have several retail spaces on floors one through four and in the cellar. The building will have several amenities, including multiple exercise rooms and a swimming pool.
Initial permits were issued to the developer in December of 2016, but no TCO has been issued yet.
SHoP Architects is designing the building.
According to Yimby, the building is anticipated to be finished around 2022.
