Interfaith Medical Center files $8M rehab to multiple floors of Bed-Stuy hospital

Interfaith Medical Center, on July 13, filed a permit application for an $8.3 million rehabilitation of several floors of a hospital building at 1545 Atlantic Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The plans call for a rehab of the roof and floors seven and eight of the 100-foot tall, nine-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: proposed interior renovation for interfaith medical center. All as per plans filed herewith. No change to use, egress, or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $8,347,923.

These are the fifth, and largest, plans filed by the hospital so far this year. The second largest, pre-filed on April 17, called for a $1,508,000 rehab of the cellar of the building. Those plans are still awaiting permits.

Interfaith Medical Center is a not-for-profit organization that offers a range of preventive, diagnostic and treatment services to the residents of Brooklyn. Of the 287 beds in service, 120 beds are allocated for mental health services, 20 beds for drug detoxification, and 20 beds for rehabilitation services, according to the center.
