Nonprofit files plans for construction of 81-unit residential building in Clinton Hill

The nonprofit Institute for Community Living, on August 13, filed a permit application for construction of an 81-unit, 70,336-square-foot residential building at 161 Emerson Place in Clinton Hill.

The plans call for the construction of a 110-foot tall, 11-story residential building.

According to the plans, the building will have classrooms, an exercise room, laundry, and storage. The ground floor will have a kitchen, lounge, storage space, lobby, and offices. Floors two through eight will each have nine units, while floors nine through 11 will each have six units.

The project is described in the filings as: construct new 11-story residential use building as per plans filed.

The lot is two blocks north of the Classon Avenue subway station, which is serviced by the G train.

R. John Woelfling of Dattner Architects is listed as the architect on the filing.

Demolition plans have not been filed, and the property is currently occupied by a four-story residential building.

Institute for Community Living is a nonprofit that helps people living with mental illness, substance use and developmental disabilities.
