Gotham permitted for 366-unit mixed-use building in LES

Gotham Organization, on January 28, was given a permit for construction of a 366-unit, 376,987-square-foot mixed-use building at 55 Suffolk Street in the Lower East Side. David Picket, president and CEO of Gotham, filed the plans.

The plans, pre-filed on March 6, 2020, call for the construction of a 310-foot tall, 32-story, mixed-use building.

The project is described in the filings as: filing for new 32-story mixed-use building as per plans.

The ground floor of the building will have several retail spaces, a community center lobby, and a residential lobby, per the plans. Floors two and three will be used for community space. The fourth floor will have 28 dwelling units, while floors five and six will each have 29 dwelling units per floor. The seventh floor will have 11 dwelling units, conference rooms, exercise rooms, and amenity space. The remaining upper floors will all be used for residential units, with most floors having 13 dwelling units. The cellar will also have retail space.

Dattner Architects is listed as the architect.

The developer officially acquired the development site for $12 million this month.

Gotham is also planning to construct a tower at 64 Norfolk Street. Together the two structures will be comprised of 488 dwelling units, 43 percent of which will be permanently affordable, per reports.
