Gotham files to demolish Covenant House residences in Clinton to make way for mixed-use project
The Picket family’s Gotham Organization, on September 1, filed a permit application for the demolition of a residential location for the nonprofit Covenant House, an 80-foot-tall building at 550 10th Avenue in Clinton. This will make way for a mixed-use building that is part of an overall joint project with the Covenant House.
Gotham is to pay Covenant $78 million over time for a portion of the land owned by Covenant. Gotham will build a mixed-use, mixed-income building, according to the New York Post, but first has to complete a building for Covenant House, which is underway. Covenant House filed plans in 2018 for the 12-story, 54,441-square-foot building with 60 beds with an address 456 West 41st Street. The building was permitted in 2019.
The new demolition project is described in the filings as: full demolition of eight-story building, using hand-held and mechanical means to assist.
David Picket of Gotham was the owners representative on the filing.
