Garbo & Co. files to convert landmarked Sunset Park church to 23-unit apartment building

Garbo & Company submitted a major alteration application for the conversion of the Park United Presbyterian Church at 4802 6th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, to a residential building with 23 units.

The building is a contributing structure within the Central Sunset Park Historic District, designated in 2019.
The plan was filed on June 5, 2026. It calls for a rehabilitation of the 50-foot-tall, three-story building and was filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B01403633. The project is described in the filing as: interior renovations and conversion from a landmark church to a multi family residence. The applicant is the Registered Architect Gladmore Mwandiambira of Baobab Architects P.C. Yaniv Garbo of Garbo & Company submitted the plans.

The plans call for seven units on the ground floor, and eight units each on the second and third floors. There is no retail or commercial space planned for the building.

The most recent property records, from 2021, identify the owner as the Presbyterian Church of New York.
