Extell files plans for 400-key hotel in Midtown West, days after plans for 670-key hotel
Gary Barnett’s Extell Development, on April 28, filed a permit application for construction of a 400-key, 208,962-square-foot mixed-use hotel at 201 West 54th Street in Midtown West, in Manhattan. The owner representative in the filing was David Rothstein of Extell.
This is his second large hotel Extell has filed plans for in Midtown this month. One week earlier, on April 21 the developer filed plans for construction of a 670-key, 242,759-square-foot, mixed-use hotel building at 1710 Broadway in the same neighborhood.
The developments have been highly anticipated for years now.
The plans call for the construction of a 460-foot tall, 40-story mixed-use hotel, and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under number M00496563. The development will occupy seven tax lots.
The project is described in the filing as: construction of a new building.
Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have retail space and a hotel lobby. The second floor will have an eating and drinking establishment. The third floor will have a gym and hotel bar and lounge. The fourth floor will house mechanical equipment. Floors five and six will each have 14 hotel rooms, floors seven through 12 will each have 13 hotel rooms, floors 13 through 26 will each have 15 hotel rooms, and floors 27 through 40 will each have 14 hotel rooms.
In the fall of 2018 Extell filed plans to demolish a 25,248-square-foot building at the property.
SLCE Architects is listed as the architect.
