Durst moving forward with plans for 987K sf Halletts North development in Astoria
The Durst Organization is moving forward with plans for its 987,000-square-foot Halletts North complex located on Astoria’s waterfront at 3-15 26th Avenue, in Queens.
The developer paid “well over $100 million” for a 90 percent stake in the Astoria megaproject site in 2014.
The developer had already completed a 22-story residential tower and a 19-story residential tower at the site, before reports surfaced that the project would be halted due to a feud with the city and the de Blasio administration.
Now, in a filing requesting a series of zoning map amendments, zoning certifications, zoning text amendments, and special permits, it seems as if the development is moving forward once again.
According to the filing, the proposed zoning changes would be to facilitate a 35-story, 987,000-square-foot mixed-use development with 1,400 dwelling units. The building would include 974,000-square-feet of residential space, 3,500-square-feet of commercial space, 9,500-square-feet of community facility space, and 41,363-square-feet of open space.
