DOB NOW update

There were very few BIS Web (Buildings Information System) filings on Thursday and Friday, as the NYC Department of Buildings continues to transition to its DOB NOW Public Portal system.

The transition has been in the works for years, after Mayor Bill de Blasio called for a fundamental reform at the Department of Buildings back in 2015. Because it is happening in multiple phases, PincusCo will be utilizing both BIS and DOB NOW to ensure our customers continue to get the most up to date development leads.

In December of 2020, the NYC DOB initiated Phase 1 of its expansion and rollout of the DOB NOW: Build platform. As part of Phase 1, all A2 jobs (known as Alteration jobs in DOB NOW), were to be filed in the new platform. By March, Phase 2 of the rollout began. The second phase saw new building jobs and A1 jobs (known as Alteration-CO jobs in DOB NOW) transition to the new platform.

For now, subdivision condominium (SC) applications and full demolition applications will continue to be filed in BIS.
