City permitted for $20M exterior rehab of high school in Gravesend

New York City School Construction Authority, on October 8, was given a permit for a $20 million rehabilitation of a school building at 50 Avenue X in Gravesend.

The building is known as John Dewey High School.

The plans, pre-filed on July 2, 2019, call for work on all floors and the roof of the 54-foot tall, three-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: k540 – filing herewith structural modifications for parapet, roofing and exterior masonry repairs and replacement. No change of use, occupancy or egress. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $20,000,000.

The NYC SCA is also listed as the architect.
