City files plans for $23.5M of rehabs at four schools in Brooklyn, Queens
The New York City School Construction Authority, on March 24, filed three permit applications for $23.5 million in rehabilitation plans at one school in Brooklyn and three schools in Queens.
The first plans call for a $7.6 million exterior rehab of multiple floors of a school at 850 Kent Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The plans call for a facade rehab spanning all floors of the 91-foot tall, five-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: PS157 -filing herewith for the exterior masonry repairs, parapet replacement, roof replacement, concrete work, drains replacement and interior finishes repairs. There will be no change in egress, occupancy and use. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $7,600,000.

The second plans call for a $6 million project to replace boilers with gas in a 49-foot-tall, four-story school at 57-00 223rd Street in Bayside, Queens.
The project is described in the filings as: Q415 – replace four boilers with new vacuum pumps, boiler feed water tanks and pumps, DDC thermostats, gas leak detection system, electric unit heaters, flue stack and motorized damps and associated piping and valves. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,000,000.
The NYC SCA is also listed as the architect.

The third plans call for a $5.5 million roof rehab of the 29-foot tall, three-story school at 109-10 47th Avenue in Corona.
The project is described in the filings as: remove and replace existing roofing systems, coping stones, parapets, window guards, three smoke hatches, roof access ladders, exterior doors, wire guards at skylights, crossover ladders, raise parapet heights, provide new pads and pillars for MH equipment, as per plans filed herewith. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $5,500,000.

The fourth plans call for a $4.4 million rehab of the roof of the 35-foot tall, two-story school at 87-45 117th Street in Richmond Hill.
The project is described in the filings as: Q51 – remove and replace existing built-up roofing systems, roof curbs, masonry repairs thru-out. Remove and replace deteriorated walls and ceilings, plaster in the cellar, as per plans filed herewith. No change in use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $4,427,000.
