City files plans for $21M rehab of Coney Island school

New York City School Construction Authority, on May 5, filed a permit application for a $21 million exterior rehabilitation of a school building at 2951 West 3rd Street in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

The plans call for a rehab of the basement, roof, all floors, and space outside of the 85-foot tall, five-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: removal and replacement of existing roofing systems, windows, parapets, masonry repairs, broken brick replacement thru-out the entire school building facades. Provide flood elimination at exterior foundation walls with injection grouting to seal from water entry. Provide plaster repair and paint in various rooms in school building, as per plan. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $21,000,000.

The NYC SCA is also the architect.

The NYC SCA recently filed plans for $50 million in rehabs of several schools around the city.
