City files plans for $10M rehab of prison building on Rikers Island

New York City Department of Corrections, on July 12, filed plans for a $10 million exterior rehabilitation of a prison building at 10-10 Hazen Street on Rikers Island, the Bronx.

The plans call for a rehab of the exterior of a 30-foot-tall, three-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number X00551120.

The project is described in the filing as: Exterior facade and roof repairs as per the plans filed including: removal and replacement of existing roof membrane, flashing, cracked masonry units and copings, scraping and painting of existing steel lintels, and parapet railing installation.

The architect listed is Superstructures Eng + Arch.

The city recently filed plans for a $5.3 million rehabilitation of one floor of a different prison building.
