Church files plans for 51K sf house of worship in East New York

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, on January 9, filed a permit application for construction of a 51,000-square-foot sanctuary at 444 Ruby Street in East New York, Brooklyn. Kunle Omotoso, a pastor with the church, filed the plans.

The plans are one of 28 new building plans filed in East New York over the previous 12 months. Of the 28 plans, these are the first plans calling for the construction of an assembly building in the neighborhood.

The church originally filed construction plans back in 2014, which were ultimately disapproved.

The plans call for the construction of a 34-foot-tall, two-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00626801. The development site will span one tax lot.

The project is described in the filing as: new place of worship.

Per the plans, the ground floor will be used as a church while the second floor will be a school with office space.

The architect listed is Banji Awosika Architect P.C.

The property was acquired for $725,000 on December 3, 2012.
