Centers Health Care’s property can be occupied following a $500K change in use to a 205K sf industrial building in Crown Heights

Centers Health Care, on March 25, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for a $500,000 change in use of a 205,680-square-foot industrial building at 170 Buffalo Avenue in Crown Heights.

The plans pre-filed on November 18, 2016, call for the increase in the size of the building to a 104-foot tall, 7-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: interior renovation to convert existing hospital to nursing home facility as per plans filed herewith. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $500,000.

The building was previously the St. Mary’s hospital, which closed in 2005. It experienced an extended period of dormancy before its transformation into the nursing home.

The nursing home was immediately put to good use, currently it is being used as a short-term hospital, helping to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
