Barrier Free Living files plans for a 75-unit residential building in East Village

Barrier Free Living, on May 8, filed a permit application for construction of a 75-unit, 65,696-square-foot residential building at 270 East 2nd Street in East Village.

The plans call for the construction of a 136-foot tall, 13-story, residential building. Barrier Free Living is a nonprofit that provides housing and support for survivors of domestic violence with disabilities.

The project is described in the filings as: herewith filing new residential and community facility (Freedom Village).

The ground floor will have office space, a lobby, laundry facilities, and storage, according to the plans. The second floor will have four units as well as additional office space and an outdoor terrace. Floors three through eight will have eight units each, floors nine through 12 will have five units each, and the 13th floor will have three units. The ninth floor will also have an outdoor terrace.

JCJ Architecture is listed as the architect for the project. Yimby published renderings in December.
