Arker Companies receives TCO for 65-unit mixed-use building, part of 1.2M sf affordable development

Arker Companies, on October 29, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for construction of a 65-unit, 65,028-square-foot mixed-use building at 702 Vandalia Avenue in East New York. The building is part of a large affordable housing complex development, known as The Fountains, which aims to bring 1,169-units to the area. The complex is being developed along with Fountain Seaview One Housing Development Fund Corporation.

The plans, pre-filed on May 11, 2017, call for the construction of a 95-foot tall, nine-story mixed-use building. The time from pre-file to TCO was three years and six months. Alex Arker was the owner representative on the filing.

The project is described in the filings as: new nine-story mixed use building.

The ground floor of the building has office space, a laundry room, and parking space for five cars, per the plans. The second floor has indoor and outdoor recreation spaces and eight dwelling units. Floors three through five each have nine dwelling units per floor, floors six and seven each have 10 dwelling units per floor, and floors eight and nine each have five dwelling units per floor.

Aufgang Architects was responsible for the building’s design.

The building is one of eight which will occupy a 6.7-acre plot of land. In total, the project will bring 1,169-units and 1.2-million-square-feet of construction to the neighborhood. The larger development will also include retail and commercial space.
