$2M rehab finished on Mount Hope Preservation Apartments building in Tremont
On October 26, a $2 million rehabilitation was formally completed of a Mount Hope Preservation Apartments building at 1734 Townsend Avenue in Mount Hope. The Mount Hope Housing Company, Inc., Monadnock Development, Notias Development, and Kalel Holdings were part of the project’s development team.
The Mount Hope Preservation Apartments are part of a project funded by the New York City Housing Development Corporation and the City of New York to develop nearly 500 residential units in Mount Hope.
The plans, pre-filed on December 13, 2017, call for a rehab of the cellar, roof, and all floors of the 53-foot tall, five-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: renovate building as follows: masonry repairs, new entry, vest doors, replace apt entry doors, replace kitchen cabinets, flooring, plumbing fixtures, drywall repair, interior doors, new window sills, replace scuttle, skylight, broken terra cotta and apply new roofing system to roof, and site work as per plan. Rebuild parapet. No change in use, egress. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $2,024,376.

The Mount Hope development entity acquired control of the parcel for $4.2 million on February 23, 2018.
