St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church signed a contract to sell a small Park Slope building at 710 Carroll Street, located across the street from the St. Francis Xavier church sanctuary, to the private school Berkeley Carroll School. The school’s lower school building is located next to the church, at 701 Carroll Street.
Berkeley Carroll School predecessor Montessori School of Brooklyn, bought 701 Carroll Street from the Roman Catholic order of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1974.
The contract was disclosed in a court document filed Friday in Brooklyn State Supreme Court that is a required step for the sale of religious and nonprofit assets.
