Samaritan Daytop files for 422-unit affordable project in Highbridge

Gerald Mascuch, vice president of real estate of Samaritan Daytop Village submitted a new building construction project for a 422-unit, 333,508 square-foot residential (R-2) building at 1387 University Avenue in Highbridge, Bronx. The plan was filed with the New York City Department of Buildings on December 26, 2023 under job number X00980196. It calls for the construction of a 26-story building. The project is described in the filing as: proposed new 26-story mixed-used building.
The architect is Magnusson Architecture And Planning.
The Architectural League of New York reported this is to be a low-carbon project that will have 316 affordable units and 106 shelter units.

Samaritan Daytop Village acquired the parcel from Carmelite Nuns in 1983, and has operated a substance abuse treatment and supportive housing facility. That existing building will be replaced with the new structure.
